Lady Tigers Win Track & Field Regional

KOKOMO – The Warsaw Lady Tiger track and field team won the Kokomo Regional on Tuesday.

Warsaw won with a team score of 83 points, followed by Penn with 66 and Concord with 43. Rounding out the top 10 were Mishawaka (43), South Bend Adams (34), Northwestern (23), Plymouth (22), Pioneer (22), Culver Academies (21) and Northridge (21). Wawasee finished in 25th.

To advance to the state meet, a student-athlete must finish in the top three or meet the event standard.

Warsaw’s title run this year has included its 13th straight Northern Lakes Conference title, 12th consecutive sectional championship and seventh regional title.

Warsaw finished first and second in the 1600-meter race. Emma Bohnenkamper captured first and Mia Beckham finished behind her teammate. Beckham finished first in the 3200-meter event.

Warsaw’s Abbi Curtis advanced in the 200-meter dash after finishing in third place.

Alexie Day cleared a height of 5 feet, 5 inches in the high jump for second place.

The 4x400-meter relay of Angie Sanchez-Vijil, Adree Beckham, Maygan Bellamy and Remi Beckham move on after coming in third with a time of 4:02.38. In the 4x800, the team of Ashlynn Hepler, Adree Beckham, Remi Beckham and Sanchez-Vijil finished third and will advance to state.

Makayla Clampitt narrowly missed advancing after finishing fourth in the 100-meter dash. She finish two-tenths of a second behind third place. Bellamy tallied a fourth-place mark in the 400-meter dash. Remi Beckham was fourth in the 800 meters.

Caitlin Kehler finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 10 feet, 2 inches. Kendal Menzie finished in fifth place in the long jump.

For Wawasee, Bailey Mayhew finished in fifth place in the 800-meter race. Sara Pritchard had a sixth-place nod in the discus and a ninth-place finish in the shot put. Jada Parzygnot tallied ninth in the pole vault.

Gabbie Brewer had the best result for Manchester, finishing ninth in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 10-3/4 inches.

Tippecanoe Valley’s Alyssa Brito had the best individual finish for the Lady Vikings at the meet. She finished in 12th in the 200-meter preliminary race. Delaney Wagoner finished in 15th in the 800-meters.

The state finals will be held on June 1 at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex at Indiana University. The first events will begin at 3 p.m.
