Lady Tigers Win Tourney; Split NLC Championship SYRACUSE — Thanks to its first-place finish at Saturday's Northern Lakes Conference Championships at Wawasee, the Warsaw girls tennis team joined Plymouth as 2011 NLC Champions. Plymouth finished the NLC season with a 7-0 record, followed by Warsaw's 6-1 mark, but because Warsaw won the tournament and Plymouth finished second, the two school's split the overall crown. In the tournament, Warsaw was represented in every championship match, with Alli Tucker and Sarah Hartle winning at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. The win by Hartle keeps her undefeated season in tact. Along with their two champions on the singles courts, Warsaw was the runner-up at No. 3 singles, where Elise Smith fell to NorthWood's Taryn Johnson. The Lady Tigers' No. 1 doubles team of Carlye Bishopp and Lindsay Sciarra also placed second, losing to Plymouth's Shannon Elliott and Lindsay Renz, while the No. 2 doubles tandem of Olivia Wallen and Marley Smith also finished second, falling to Plymouth's Marisa German and Chelsea Thoden. Following the win, Tucker and Hartle were both named All-NLC, while Elise Smith and Bishopp earned honorable mention recognition. Warsaw's Rick Orban was also named coach of the year.
