Lady Tigers Top Manchester At Stonehenge

Posted
Lindsey Budnik won the battle. The Warsaw Lady Tigers won the war.
In a matchup of area high school golf teams at Stonehenge Thursday, Budnik, a senior for the Manchester Lady Squires, shot a 39 and earned medalist honors.
Warsaw, however, used a consistent team effort and four scores in the 40s to win the match 176-207.
Alexis Manwaring shot 41 for the winners, while Nikki LaLonde carded a 42, Elizabeth Meadows finished with a 45 and Morgan Sands added a 48.
Ashley Murrell rounded out the Lady Tigers’ lineup with a 56.
With the win, Warsaw improved to 11-1 on the season, while the Lady Squires fell to 9-5.
For Manchester, there were only two scores lower than 50 – Budnik’s 39 and Claire Bennett’s 49.
Other scores for the Lady Squires included Jasmine Whitaker’s 54, Erin Working’s 65, Nina Smith’s 66 and Celina Carter’s 71.
En route to winning match medalist honors with her 4-over round, Budnik turned in her best nine-hole score of the season, something she did on the hardest course she has played this season.
Over the final four holes of the match, Budnik was 1-under.
Both Manchester and Warsaw will now focus on Saturday’s conference matches.
The Lady Squires will participate in the Three Rivers Conference match at LaFontaine Golf Club in Huntington.
The Lady Tigers will tee off in the Northern Lakes Conference match at Bent Oak in Elkhart.
