ELKHART — The Warsaw girls golf team won Saturday's Northern Lakes Conference Championships at Elkhart's Bent Oaks Golf Club. When coupled with season records, Warsaw's win at the championships drew the Lady Tigers with a tie for the NLC overall title with the NorthWood Lady Panthers. Needing a win in the conference tournament to get a share of the conference crown, Warsaw shot a 373 on the par-72 course, while NorthWood finished with a 381 and Wawasee shot a 395 to round out the top three. Individually, NorthWood's Heidi Morganthaler was the top player, shooting an 83, while Warsaw junior Nikki LaLonde finished in a second-place tie with Plymouth's Emily Berger by shooting an 88. Warsaw's Alexis Manwaring was fourth with a 90, Wawasee's Alex Goralczyk was fifth with a 93 and Warsaw's Elizabeth Meadows finished in a sixth-place tie with a 94 and Wawasee's Mikala Mawhorter was eighth with a 95. Warsaw will host Whitko Tuesday at Stonehenge Golf Club, while Wawasee’s next match isn’t until the sectional Saturday at Stonehenge.
The Rochester girls golf team won Saturday's Three Rivers Conference Championships at Huntington's LaFontaine Golf Club. On the par-72 course, the Rochester Lady Zebras shot a 347, putting plenty of distance between themselves and second-place finisher Wabash, who shot a 389. Manchester was fourth with a 401, followed by Whitko (438) and Tippecanoe Valley (500). Wabash's Kate Smith was the individual champion, shooting an 81, while Manchester's Lindsey Budnik tied for sixth with a 92 and teammate Jasmine Whitaker was eighth with a 93.
