The 13th-ranked Warsaw girls track and field team continued to roll Tuesday evening, improving to 4-0 with home wins over Fort Wayne North Side and Huntington North.
Winning eight events, Warsaw defeated North Side 92-39 and Huntington North by a 87-45 count.
Along with the team win, senior Lauren Burish set a new Tigers Athletic Complex record by posting a distance of 125-2 in the discus and sophomore Claire Hickerson’s clearance of 11-0.25 in the pole vault was also a TAC record.
Other wins for the Lady Tigers were captured by Vicki Harris (high jump), Jackie Ferguson (100 hurdles), Ashley Erba (1600), Kristin Quick (400), the 3200 relay (Erba, Quick, Ellie Bearss, Brooke Kline) and the 1600 relay (Tennie Worrell, Lilly Fleming, Nicole Eckert, Quick).
The Lady Tigers are off for spring break, returning back to competition April 10 at home against Northridge and Wawasee.
Tuesday in Wabash The Whitko girls track and field team picked up a 65-57 Three Rivers Conference win at Wabash High School Tuesday evening. Winning the 3200 and 400 relays, sophomore Taylor Zwick also delivered two wins, taking first in the discus and long jump. SOFTBALL Tuesday in Ligonier Travelling east to take on West Noble Tuesday night, the Wawasee softball team lost 4-1. Each team finished with nine hits, but West Noble’s came at opportune times off Wawasee freshman Alli Ousley, who did post four strikeouts in six innings of work. At the plate, senior Gabi Routson and sophomore Staci Carr each went 2 for 3 in the loss. The 1-2 Lady Warriors host Elkhart Central Thursday. Kieli Perkins went 3 for 4 in the win, recording an RBI, while Alaya Pelo was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs. The Lady Vikings travel to Bethany Christian Thursday. BOYS TRACK AND FIELD Tuesday in Wabash The Whitko boys track and field team won a Three Rivers Conference meet in dominating fashion Tuesday at Wabash, 99-33. Of the 15 contested events, the Whitko Wildcats won 13, including every event on the track. Jordan Sims had four first-place finishes on the night, winning the 110 hurdles (16.9), 300 hurdles (42.1) and being a part of the 400 relay (46.5) with Caleb Wilkinson, Brady Herendeen and Connor Stouder, as well as the winning 1600 relay (3:45.0) with Wilkinson, Derek Miller and Brandon Nettrouer.
