Lady Tigers Lead Roundup With Win Over Valley In Softball

With offensive outbursts in the third and sixth innings Friday evening, Warsaw’s varsity softball team beat county rival Tippecanoe Valley 12-4. The host Lady Tigers scored four runs in the third and six more in the sixth, as they pounded out 18 hits and improved their season record to 9-16. The Lady Vikings scored a run in the second inning, tying the contest at the time, and their final three in the sixth. Kaleigh Speicher had a big night for the Lady Tigers. Not only did she get the pitching win, she had three hits, including a home run and a double, scored three runs and drove in three runs. Kayla Snider pounded out four hits for Warsaw, including a double, drove in three runs and scored two runs. For Valley, Mariah Benzing and Darian Dotson had two hits each, with one of Benzing’s hits being a home run. Benzing drove in three of Valley’s four runs. The Lady Vikings fell to 5-16 on the season. Friday in Syracuse Wawasee’s varsity softball team closed the Northern Lakes Conference schedule with an 8-2 win over the visiting NorthWood Lady Panthers. Wawasee scored two runs in the first inning and later plated four more in the sixth to secure the win. The Lady Warriors are now 10-12 overall and 6-8 in conference action. Aly Anderson, Alli Ousley, Madi Anderson and Taylor Spangle had two hits each for Wawasee. Ousley hit a grand slam and finished the game with five RBIs. Madi Anderson had a home run for the winners. BASEBALL Friday in Nappanee Wawasee’s varsity baseball team gave up four runs in the first inning Friday and went on to lose 6-0 at Northern Lakes Conference rival NorthWood. The Panthers also scored a run in the second inning and another in the fifth. NorthWood pounded out eight hits in the win, while the Warriors had just three. Drew Anderson accounted for the majority of Wawasee’s offense, as he finished the game 2 for 4 at the plate. The Warriors are now 3-18 overall and 1-13 in conference play. BOYS GOLF Friday in Warsaw LCA’s boys golf team hosted and defeated Lakewood Park Christian 173-272 Friday at Rozella Ford. Chris Maron led the Cougars with a 41, while Zarek Finley fired a 42.
