Lady Tigers Lead Roundup With Win Over Memorial

Posted
ELKHART – The Class 4A No. 8 Warsaw girls basketball team just keeps rolling.
Improving to 18-0 overall and 6-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference Tuesday, the Warsaw Lady Tigers downed Elkhart Memorial 39-32 in Elkhart, ending a 13-game skid against the Lady Crimson Chargers.
With the victory, Warsaw guaranteed itself at least a share of the NLC crown with just Class 3A No. 4 NorthWood left on its conference schedule Saturday in Nappanee.
In the NLC, only Class 3A No. 9 Plymouth could conceivably share the crown with Warsaw, sitting with a 4-1 record and Northridge and Goshen still on its schedule. That one loss was a 51-41 loss at Warsaw on Dec. 8.
Against Memorial, a team Warsaw hadn't beaten since Feb. 5, 2004, the Lady Tigers held the hosts to 28 percent shooting from the field and outrebounded them 40-27.
Individually, junior Nikki Grose had 10 points and 11 rebounds, while senior Jennifer Walker-Crawford finished with 14 points and six rebounds and senior Lindsay Baker had an 11-point, nine-rebound game.
Junior varsity tipoff at NorthWood Saturday will be 6:15 p.m., with the varsity to follow.
