Lady Tigers Lead Roundup With Impressive Track & Field Wins

MIDDLEBURY – The Warsaw girls track and field team continued it's assault on the Northern Lakes Conference Tuesday night in Middlebury. Defeating Northridge 114-17 and Wawasee 114-18, Warsaw is now 4-0 in its pursuit of a ninth-straight conference title and has outscored it's opponents by an average of 87 points. Finishing first in 15 of 16 events, the Lady Tigers had three girls win two individual events, including Ann Harvuot in the 100 (13.58) and 200 (27.16), Jackie Ferguson in the 100 hurdles (17.65) and 400 (1:06.08) and Allison Miller in the 1600 (5:25.76) and 3200 (11:58.68). Harvuot also joined Mariah Harter, Samantha Alexander and Audrey Rich on the first-place 4x100 relay (51.13). The Lady Tigers will look to win their third-straight Turtle Town Classic Saturday at Churubusco. Wawasee will also be at the Turtle Town Classic. Monday in Denver At North Miami Monday, the Manchester girls track and field team scored 98 points, while North Miami finished with 31 and Caston tallied 26. In the double-win, Manchester had three girls post two individual wins, including Rae Bedke (1600, 3200), Hanna Olk (Shot Put, Discus) and Cali Spann (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles). BASEBALL Monday in Ligonier The Whitko baseball team fought back, but came up short in a 12-11 loss at West Noble Monday. Trailing 12-6 after four innings, Whitko scored one in the fifth and another four in the sixth, but it wasn't enough, falling to 8-2 on the season. Ethan Nicodemus was 3 for 3 in the loss with three RBIs, while Avery Robbins was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. The Wildcats are at Lakeland Friday. BOYS GOLF Tuesday in Rochester Getting its first win of the season Tuesday, the Tippecanoe Valley boys golf team defeated Knox 176-234 at the Round Barn Golf Club at Mill Creek in Rochester. Bryce Zimpelman and Tanner Neeley each led Valley with a 42 on the par-36 course. Valley will take on North Miami and Caston at Peru Municipal Golf Course Thursday. SOFTBALL Tuesday in Culver In a game not short on runs Tuesday in Culver, the Tippecanoe Valley softball team defeated the Culver Girls Academy 25-10 in five innings. Katie Gunter was the winning pitcher, striking out six. Offensively, Kassidy Shepherd was 2 for 4 with six RBIs and a triple, with Gunter also posting three hits, including a triple, while Kaitlyn Prater was 3 for 4 with two RBIs. The 4-3 Tippecanoe Valley Lady Vikings will be at Saturday's Wabash Invitational. Tallying 69 points, Manchester topped North Miami's 48.5 and Caston's 38.5. On the day, Brodi Carter won three events, including the 110 hurdles (16.8), 300 hurdles (47.2) and high jump (6-0).
