Lady Tigers Lead Roundup With Blowout Win In Wabash

WABASH — Playing its third-straight Three Rivers Conference opponent, the Warsaw girls basketball team got its most lopsided win of the year Tuesday in Wabash.
Facing the Wabash Lady Apaches, the Warsaw Lady Tigers took a 50-18 lead into the fourth quarter, before taking their foot off the gas in a 55-22 win.
Improving to 5-0, the Lady Tigers were led by senior Lindsay Baker’s 18 points, while classmate Jennifer Walker-Crawford had 12.
Junior Nikki Grose was the team’s top rebounder with seven, followed by Baker’s six.
Senior Sarah Ray led the way with five assists and four steals, which was matched by Baker and junior Brooklyn Harrison.
Warsaw begins its Northern Lakes Conference campaign Saturday, hosting Plymouth.

Tuesday in South Whitley
Whitko coach Scott Wessel got his first coaching win Tuesday night at home against Central Noble. Hosting the Cougars, Wessel’s Whitko Wildcats got a 53-43 victory, improving to 1-4 on the year. Up next for Whitko is a game at Wawasee Saturday night.

Tuesday in Warsaw
Hosting Huntington North Tuesday, the Warsaw boys swim team posted a 140-43 victory Tuesday night. Winning all three relays, the Tigers also received multiple individual wins from J.D. French (50 free, 100 free), Spencer Davidson (100 fly, 100 free) and Zach Taylor (500 free, 100 back). Also getting wins for Warsaw were Matthew Wildman (200 free), Jayden Parrett (200 IM) and Brandon Elliott (diving). The Tigers host No. 3 Northridge Thursday in Northern Lakes Conference action.

The Warsaw girls swim team got a dominating 121-49 home win over Huntington North Tuesday. Winning each of the relays, Warsaw’s Ashley Van Wormer won the 200 IM and 100 breast, while Jessica Haines (200 free), Liz Slough (100 fly), Jessica Sweatland (100 free), Erin Sandberg (500 free) and Malorie Rheinhardt (100 back)  also finished first. Next up for Warsaw is a Thursday night Northern Lakes Conference meet at home against Northridge.
