ANGOLA — The 12th-ranked Warsaw girls golf team won Thursday’s Fremont Invitational at Angola’s Lake James Golf Club. Shooting a 389, the Lady Tigers held off South Bend St. Joseph’s, which shot a 396, while Wawasee was fourth with a 406 and Manchester finished ninth with a 444. St. Joe’s Anna Wilcoxson was the medalist of the tournament, shooting a 73. Warsaw was led by Alexis Manwaring’s 93, followed by Morgan Sands’ 97, Nikki LaLonde’s 99, Elizabeth Meadows’ 100 and Ashley Murrell’s 116. Wawasee’s scores were Mikala Mawhorter’s 90, Elizabeth Jackson’s 101, Courtney McDaniel’s 104, Kylee Rostochak’s 111 and Alex Goralczyk’s 117. For Manchester, Lindsey Budnik finished fourth overall with an 87, while Jasmine Whitaker and Claire Barnett each shot a 103 and Erin Working came in with a 151. The Lady Tigers are back in action Saturday at the Western Invitational, which will take place at Chippendale Golf Course in Kokomo. Wawasee and Manchester each played today, with Wawasee traveling to Plymouth’s Swan Lake and Manchester competing in the Wabash County Tournament at Sycamore Golf Club. The Tippecanoe Valley girls golf team improved its season record to 2-5 following Thursday’s 219-277 over Northfield at Rochester’s Mill Creek Golf Course. Valley’s Allyson Ross was the match medalist, shooting a 46 on the par-36 course.
