Lady Tigers Continue Winning Ways

NAPPANEE — The Warsaw softball team got its seventh-straight win Monday in Nappanee.

Taking on NorthWood in a Northern Lakes Conference game, the Warsaw Lady Tigers won 10-0 in five innings.

Senior pitcher Cari O’Hara got the win, limiting NorthWood to just five hits, posting her sixth individual win of the year.

At the plate, senior Kendra Marshall hit her third home run of the season, driving in three runs in the win.

The Lady Tigers now sit at 8-4 overall and 4-0 in the NLC as they prepare to travel to Northridge, who’s also 4-0 in the NLC, Wednesday.

Falling behind 4-0 after one inning, the Wawasee softball team lost 7-0 Monday at home agianst Northridge. Facing Northridge pitcher Haley Nixon, the Wawasee Lady Warriors struck out 15 times, falling to 8-9 on the season and 2-2 in Northern Lakes Conference play. Wawasee travels to Plymouth Wednesday.

The Manchester softball team broke a 4-4 tie with four runs in the top of the eighth inning Monday at Maconaquah, going on to win 8-5. Manchester sophomore pitcher Sydney Jordan got the victory, striking out 14 in the process, while Mariah Mobley hit a two-run homer in the seventh to break the tie. The 4-6 Lady Squires host Southwood Wednesday.

Despite playing a good offensive game, the Manchester baseball team fell 13-7 at Columbia City Monday night. Leaving a total of 10 runners on base, Manchester posted 12 hits in the loss, as Grant Schuler and Jurgin Cripe each had three. The 3-6 Manchester Squires host Southwood Wednesday.

Hosting Fairfield, West Noble and Elkhart Central at South Shore Golf Club Monday, the Wawasee boys golf team improved its season record to 4-0. On the par-36 course, Wawasee shot a 171, followed by Fairfield’s 180, West Noble’s 183 and Elkhart Central’s 185. Wawasee’s Derek Zurcher was the medalist, shooting a 39. The Warriors host three more teams Thursday, welcoming in Manchester, Whitko and South Bend Riley to South Shore.

Playing a Three Rivers Conference match on its home courts Monday, the Manchester girls tennis team defeated Rochester 5-0. The most highly-contested match of the night, came at No. 1 singles, where Manchester senior Malyssa Bedke defeated Rochester senior Makayla Stockberger in three sets, 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 6-3. The win improves Manchester to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the TRC. The Lady Squires will be at the TRC Individual Tournament Saturday at Wabash High School.
