Lady Squires Take Down Fort Wayne Blackhawk

MANCHESTER – Drew Thompson had 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers, and Cierra Carter had eight in Manchester’s 43-38 win over Fort Wayne Blackhawk Monday night.
The Lady Squires’ Bailey Sewell and Ellie Milam contributed six points each, with Celina Carter added five, Rae Bedke had four and Tiffany Johnson two in the victory.
After getting out to a nine point lead after the first quarter, the Lady Squires trailed by one at halftime. Manchester outscored Blackhawk by three points in each of the last two quarters to pull away.
Manchester (7-10) returns to Three Rivers Conference play when they host Rochester at 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

Monday in Akron
Tippecanoe Valley’s girls swim team won 11 of 12 events while beating Wabash 110-56 Monday. The boys team dropped a 90-58 decision to the Apaches.
The Lady Vikings’ Kate Gunter and Lea Stouder were double winners; Gunter taking the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 backstroke and Stouder winning the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle. Mia McHaffey won the diving competition, Joy Hurd the 200 freestyle, and Blake McBrier the 50 freestyle. Sara Jones took the 500 freestyle and Valley won all three relay races.
