Lady Squires Defeat Northfield To Lead Local Roundup

WABASH — The Manchester girls tennis team picked up a 4-1 Three Rivers Conference win at Northfield Wednesday night. In the victory, the Lady Squires won on all three singles courts, including senior Laurel Ruppert at No. 1 (6-3, 4-6, 6-3), junior Katie Peden at No. 2 (7-6 (7-5), 6-4) and sophomore Claire Barnett at No. 3 (6-3, 7-5). Manchester’s other victory was at No. 2 doubles, where freshmen Reilly Ruppert and Allison Smith were 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 victors. The win leaves Manchester at 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the TRC. In Three Rivers Conference play Wednesday evening in South Whitley, the Whitko girls tennis team lost 4-1 to the visiting Rochester Lady Zebras. Whitko’s point came at No. 1 doubles, where Abby Marshall and Laura Alfieri defeated Rochester’s Adrian Paulik and Caitlyn Patterson 6-4, 6-3.
