Lady Squires Blank WawaseeSYRACUSE – The Manchester Lady Squires scored six runs in the first two innings Friday and cruised to a 10-0 high school softball win at Wawasee.

After plating one run in the first inning, Manchester took a commanding lead with five runs in the second, later adding three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.

The host Lady Warriors, who were held to three hits, simply had no answer as they fell to 2-3 with their third straight loss.

Wawasee has been outscored 31-7 in its last three games.

Freshman Ava Rush had two hits for the Lady Warriors, while junior Bethany Flannery had the other.

Improving to 2-3 on the season with their second straight win, the Lady Squires pounded out seven hits, led by freshman Ali Sites’ three-hit performance that included a triple.

Senior Kiera Stacy had two hits in the win, including a home run, and five RBIs.

Juniors Emma West and Carsyn Howard had one hit each for Manchester.

Senior Mattie McKee was credited with the win in the circle for Manchester after pitching seven innings in which she walked none and struck out eight.

Wawasee freshman Olivia Stuck was charged with the loss. She gave up two hits, two runs and five runs in one inning of work.

Classmate Kiaundra Olson pitched the other six innings and gave up five hits and five runs while walking three and striking out two.

Manchester hosts Fremont today for a doubleheader, while Wawasee hosts rival Warsaw Monday in the Northern Lakes Conference opener.

Wawasee won Friday’s JV game 17-7.

Ciandra Ervin had four RBIs for the Lady Warriors and also got the pitching win.

Autumn Conners and Casey Drake had three RBIs each in the win.
