Lady Squire Soccer Claims First-Ever Sectional TitleHARTFORD CITY – Manchester won its first-ever girls soccer sectional title with a 1-0 win over Eastbrook in a match decided by a penalty kick shootout. Eastbrook connected on two of its first four penalty kicks. Melissa Saucedo, Bethany Collett, Carsyn Howard, and Elizabeth Anguilm converted their attempts to send the trophy to North Manchester. Keira Stacy was credited with five saves in the match. Manchester will host Bellmont, which won the sectional it hosted, in a 1A regional match at Good Field at noon Saturday. The victor advances to the four-team semistate, at either Argos or LaVille on Oct. 22.
Squire Boys Soccer Falls FORT WAYNE – Nathan Self scored a game-tying goal in the first half, but Blackhawk scored with about three and a half minutes left in overtime to beat the Squires 2-1 in the 1A Blackhawk Sectional title game. Manchester finished its season with a 12-4-1 record.
