CHICAGO – Offensive issues troubled Grace College’s women’s basketball team on Tuesday in a 68-46 defeat to Robert Morris.
Grace made just 27 percent of its field goals for the game and turned the ball over 25 times against the Eagles (7-6).
Robert Morris, receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll, held Grace to nine points in the first quarter. Grace was stuck on just two points for the first five minutes of the period before a three-pointer by Gabby Miller ended the drought.
The Lady Lancers struggled in making just 8 of 34 (24 percent) attempts from the floor in the first half and trailed 34-21 at halftime.
The Eagles opened the second half on a 20-5 run. Grace was unable to make a significant charge at Robert Morris’s cushion during the rest of the contest.
Miller was Grace’s lone double-digit scorer, collecting 10 points and making both of her three-point tries.
Lauren Godfrey was a spark off the bench. The freshman scored nine points in 12 minutes and drilled 3-of-4 from beyond the arc for the Lady Lancers.
Sarah Feasby tallied eight points and five boards, Kelsie Peterson added five points, four rebounds and two steals, and Haley Richardson chipped in with six boards and three assists.
Peterson was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Lady Lancers (5-10) in the St. Xavier Tournament.
The Lady Lancers will play 18 consecutive Crossroads League matches to wrap up the regular season, beginning with a road trip to Spring Arbor on Jan. 2.
