Students from Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy delivered teddy bears to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Monday. Officers give the bears to children they meet in traumatic situations. Madison O’Connell, a junior at Tippecanoe Valley High School said she needed an idea for “project proud.” She remembered a firefighter who gave her a bear after her dad was in a motorcycle accident when she was 7 and thought it would be a good thing for the community. The students collected 118 bears and $237 to purchase more stuffed animals. The bears were collected in a “bear toss” at a high school basketball game. Pictured (L to R) are Sgt. Chad Hill, Camden Tucker and Madison O’Connell. Not pictured is Jacob Mcdonald.
