INDIANAPOLIS – House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced committee assignments and leadership appointments for the Indiana House Republican Caucus. State Representative District 22 Rebecca Kubacki (R-Syracuse) has been selected to serve as chair of the Family, Children and Human Affairs committee. Kubacki represents portions of Elkhart and Kosciusko counties. State Representative District 18 Dave Wolkins (R-Winona Lake) has been appointed chairman of the Environmental Affairs Committee. Wolkins also has been appointed vice chairman of the Select Committee on Government Reduction. He also will serve on the Government and Regulatory Reform Committee. Wolkins represents portions of Grant, Kosciusko, Miami and Wabash counties. “I am honored to serve on these committees,” Wolkins said. “As chairman of the Environmental Affairs Committee, I will focus on an integrated approach of sustainability and feasibility as we look for new ways to minimize the carbon footprint of our energy consumption without reducing efficiency.” Kubacki said she is looking forward to serve on the Family, Children and Human Affairs committee. In addition to her chairmanship appointment, Kubacki also will serve on the following committees: Courts and Criminal Code Employment, Labor and Pensions, and Interstate and International Cooperation. “As a legislator and a mother, the safety and well-being of children and families has always been a top priority of mine,” Kubacki said. “By serving as chair of the Family, Children and Human Affairs committee, I am pleased to be able to continue my mission to be a voice for children and families of Indiana.” She said the issues that are addressed by this committee are steps in the right direction as ways are examined to strengthen family bonds and the safety of Hoosiers.
