Kubacki Seeking Reelection

State Representative District 22 Rebecca Kubacki announced she is seeking re-election for the seat in the May 8 primary.

The general election will be Nov. 6.

Kubacki (R-Syracuse) filed for the seat Wednesday.

She said she is eager to get started and looks forward to working hard to represent her new constituents.

She said with the redistricting she was lucky to have the opportunity to represent the people she has known for the past 13 years.

“I am thrilled Mom and Daughter can actually vote for me this time around,” Kubacki said.

Having grown up in Kosciusko County and now having the opportunity to represent people she grew up with is an honor, Kubacki said.

She said she will always remember her Pierceton High School teacher, Mildred Boley, who always said, “There is so much we can accomplish in life if we just apply ourselves.”

She said she always will be grateful to her for those words of encouragement.

Kubacki currently serves on the Ways and Means Committee and Commerce of Economic Development.

She recently was appointed to the board of Riley Children’s Foundation and will serve on the grants committee.

She also serves on Fort Wayne’s board of United Hispanic Americans, the Governor’s Commission for Latino Affairs, trustee of the Indiana State Museum, and the President’s Advisory Board for Manchester College, Ivy Tech and Indiana Historical Museum.

She said she feels it is her responsibility to do what she can to contribute to make the community a better place.

She said she hopes her involvement with Literacy Services, American Red Cross, United Way, Syracuse Public Library, Warsaw Biblical Gardens, Symphony of the Lakes Orchestra, Wawasee Conservancy and Fort Wayne Zoo has accomplished that.

She said job creation is a priority.

“I will not rest until we get people back to work,” Kubacki said.

She said she will work to do what she can legislatively to create a business-friendly environment.
“You will not find a harder working group of people than Hoosiers,” Kubacki said. “They want to work, they are hungry for jobs and I am going to do all I can to make that happen.”

Kubacki and her husband, Mike, have been married for 38 years. They have two children: a daughter, Katherine Kubacki; and son, Matt (and spouse Lindsay); and two grandchildren, Bella and Roman.
