Kubacki On Marriage

Editor, Times-Union:
Kosciusko Silent NO More releases the following statement: District 22  State Representative Rebecca Kubacki  voted tonight to gut HJR3, thus denying Hoosiers the opportunity to vote for marriage between one man and one woman in November. Her vote to strip the second sentence out of the bill will deny constituents the right to vote on marriage, leaving this decision to the hands of an activist judge, as has already been done in states like Massachusetts, Utah and New Jersey.
KSNM is very disappointed in Representative Kubacki’s vote tonight. It was our hope that she would trust her constituents enough to allow them the opportunity to vote. Hoosiers should decide the future of marriage, not judges, not Hollywood, not liberal activists and not the media.
KSNM Vice President Amy Prosser said, “Our concern here is religious freedom. Everyone has the right to live as they choose, but redefining marriage is dangerous for religious freedom as we continue to see faith-based organizations sued for refusing to participate in gay weddings and refused the right of conscientious objection. Unfortunately, Rep. Kubacki’s vote leaves the door open for Hoosiers to be subjected to similar treatment.”
