Kruschwitz Brothers HonoredManchester Squire boys golf team members and brothers Harley and Owen Kruschwitz are this week’s Times-Union Co-Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 26.
Harley, a junior, and Owen, a freshman, began thier week by finishing second and third, respectively, against Peru in the final dual match of the season at Rock Hollow Golf Club Thursday.
The brothers then tied for medalist honors at the Wabash Invitational at Honeywell Golf Club Saturday, each at 1-over par 72. The tiebreaker wound up going four extra holes.
Harley and Owen traded par for par on the first three playoff holes (alternating between holes number 1 and 18), with Harley narrowly missing birdie putts on all three holes and Owen making very nice recoveries for par on each of the holes.
On the fourth playoff hole, No. 18, Owen had the edge, but Harley made his birdie putt from approximately 30 feet, while Owen barely missed birdie from about 12 feet.
Both will compete with their Squire teammates at the Warsaw Sectional tournament Friday at Rozella Ford Golf Club.
