Krebs To Coach Lady TigersThe Warsaw Community High School Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Lenny Krebs as the sixth head coach of the school’s girls basketball program. Krebs was approved at Monday’s Board of School Trustees’ monthly meeting. Krebs, who coached Goshen’s girls team to a 130-174 record over the past 15 seasons, replaces Michelle Harter. Harter was Warsaw’s junior varsity coach for 17 seasons before posting a record of 136-70 in nine varsity seasons, including a mark of 20-4 this year. She stepped down in March to pursue college coaching opportunities. Krebs is a Fairfield High School graduated who played college basketball for Grace College and NAIA Hall of Fame coach Jim Kessler. Krebs served under legendary high school coach Steve Neff before taking the head coaching position at Goshen. “We are very excited that Mr. Lenny Krebs will become our next girls basketball coach,” said Warsaw Community Schools Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert. “Coach Krebs is known for his strong development of student athletes both on the basketball court and through development of character.” Krebs takes the reigns of a team that lost all five starters and six total seniors from this season’s 20-4 squad. In the 42 seasons since the IHSAA admitted girls basketball as a sanctioned sport, Warsaw has won 655 games and made four state championship game appearances. The Lady Tigers won state championships in 1976 and 1978, and were state runners-up in 1991 and 2004 (Class 4A).
