Kosciusko's Kauffman Brings Her Own Touch To New Christmas CD

Music brings a lot of joy to Rosalie Kauffman.
“Music has just always been a passion in my life,” she said during an interview Thursday afternoon. “It’s something that soothes me and brings a lot of joy to my life, and I hope (my music) brings joy to others.”
Kauffman just released her Christmas CD, “A Silent Night In Bethlehem”, over the weekend. It features 11 songs, including the album title song, which is an original she wrote.
“Truthfully, because I had a couple of friends come to me and say we think you need to do this, it encouraged me to do this,” she said.
Of the 11 tracks on the CD, Kauffman said, “I think all of them will be recognizable except the one I wrote myself, ‘A Silent Night In Bethlehem’.”
Track 9 is a cover of Steven Curtis Chapman’s “The Night Before Christmas”, and track 11 is Kauffman’s version of Josh Groban’s “Thankful”.
There are two medleys on the CD, including “The First Noel/It Came Upon A Midnight Clear” and “What Child Is This/We Three Kings”. The second medley features Kauffman singing with her two brothers, Dave and Rick Price, and sister, Deb Powell.
“It’s very much a family thing. We had music in our house continuously growing up. It was part of our lives,” she said.
The other six songs on the album include “I Wonder as I Wander”, “White Christmas”, “Merry Little Christmas”, “O Holy Night”, “Silent Night” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”.
She said she has been singing for as long as she can remember. “I’ve sang at countless weddings and events,” she said.
About four years ago when the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund had its first “Idol Night”, Kauffman won.
Sweetwater in Fort Wayne produced and arranged Kauffman’s CD. She recorded it over the past month.
Her Christmas album isn’t the first time Kauffman has made a CD, but it is the first CD she has published and put out for sale.
Five years ago, she said, she recorded a CD as a gift to her mom. She ended up giving away hundreds more to family and friends.
Recently, she wrote a song titled “Wash Me” chronicling her youngest son’s life. That single will be out in three weeks, she said, with proceeds benefitting the Kosciusko County Jail Ministry.
“Anytime one purchases a copy, it will enable me to send a CD to an inmate’s family free of charge,” she said.
Over the next three months, she said she will probably have a praise and worship CD out as well.
Kauffman has lived in Warsaw the last six years, but is a lifetime Kosciusko County resident. She was born and raised in Etna Green, living in Bourbon for 20 years.
She and her husband, Kyle, have two grown sons, Derric (and spouse Carly) and Ryan, and a grandson, Kameron.
“A Silent Night In Bethlehem” is available for $13.99 at: The Cranberry Cottage, The Island Weaver, Kelainey’s, Tree of Life Grace Bookstore, all in The Village at Winona; Party Shop Hallmark stores, The Dennie House, Maple Avenue Florist, Wood-N-Stuff, Crownover’s Jewelry, all in Warsaw; Alley Cats, Leesburg; Robin’s Nest, Bourbon; and Old Julian Hardware, Etna Green.
