Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
The 34th class of the Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy (KYLA) recently held their first meeting of the year at Cardinal Services.
This year’s class includes 33 students who are in their junior year of high school. The KYLA class includes students from Fairfield Jr./Sr. High School, Indiana Digital Learning School, Lakeland Christian Academy, NorthWood High School, Tippecanoe Valley High School, Triton Jr./Sr. High School, Warsaw Community High School and Wawasee High School.
During this introductory meeting, the students were introduced to the KYLA board members, were given information about what to expect in the coming year and participated in mixer games.
KYLA has monthly meetings at various locations around Kosciusko County where the students will learn the basics of leadership and experience various areas of the community such as social services, healthcare, orthopedics, entrepreneurship, agriculture and law enforcement. They will each have the opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills by completing a community service project of their choice and reporting on their experience.
KYLA exists to provide a positive environment where high school juniors can learn the basics of leadership and become informed, capable leaders that assume active roles in the growth of the community, according to a provided news release.
