Kosciusko County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau unveiled a new website last month.
And its aim is by being user-generated that the site will grow and be one where people can go for information on things like festivals, events and travel offers.
Though still located at www.koscvb.org, the site has a brand-new look.
It’s a site designed not only for visitors but for local residents who are looking to discover what to do.
Mary Kittrell, executive director of the county’s CVB, said she and her staff are excited for the new website.
They’ve also integrated social media like Twitter and Facebook onto the site and are looking to develop blogs for it.
“We’d love to have 1,000 likes on Facebook or people following us on Twitter,” said Kittrell. “We try to post daily to Facebook to have people going there and staying interested in what’s going on.”
Kittrell said she is actively seeking people who are passionate about activities in the community to write the blogs. For businesses and organizations, it costs nothing to contribute.
All entries are reviewed by CVB staff but typically on the site within 24 hours of it being submitted.
Businesses and organizations just need to register a username.
Bands can even put their upcoming gigs on the site.
Kittrell said she would love to see schools start putting their events on the site.
The “Travel Offers” section can offer everything with hotel packages and specials for shopping.
“We’re really lucky to live in such a community with so much to do,” said Kittrell. “I know the tendency, no matter where you live, is to say there is nothing to do here. That’s not the case here. You don’t have to go to Indy or Chicago.”
There is no decision currently on whether to sell advertising on the site.
There is also no membership required to be able to post to the site.
“‘Live Well In The Moment’ is our new motto,” said Kittrell. “And that’s what we’re striving for with things like the new site.”
