Kosciusko Red Cross Offers Help

Posted
The American Red Cross of Kosciusko County announced Friday that assistance is available for county residents left without food, clothing or shelter in the wake of Thursday night's tornado in the northwestern corner of the county.

"We provide immediate food, clothing and shelter as long as it's disaster-related," said American Red Cross manager Ann Sweet.

Sweet said assistance from Red Cross is free of charge.

The Red Cross sent out reconnaissance teams Friday to assess the storm damage and identify those in need. Sweet said many property owners whose property was damaged are not staying in their homes because their utilities are down.

Those seeking assistance are asked to call 574-267-5244 or, this weekend, 574-265-8225. The Red Cross office is at 320 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw. The office will be open Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
