Kosciusko Lakes and Streams, a community water quality program centered at Grace College, will sponsor an art contest for local students enrolled in grades 4-12.

Entries for the Wonderful Water Student Art Contest need to include water (lakes, streams, rivers, ponds or wetlands) and wildlife. Students must submit their pieces between now and April 13.The contest, centered on the theme "Our Lakes and Rivers are Treasures," strives to create awareness and appreciation of Kosciusko County's waters through artistic expression. A panel of judges form the art department at Grace College will evaluate the artwork based on four categories: creativity, artistic merit, compatibility of wildlife with its habitat and depiction of the theme.

The judges will pick three winners from each of the following age groups: grades 4-6, grades 7-8, grades 9-10 and grades 11-12. First-place winners will receive $50 in cash. Second-place winners will get $25 in cash. Third-place winners will earn a Wal-Mart gift card worth $10. Pike Lumber Co. Northern Gases & Supply Inc., Tippecanoe Boat Co. and Wal-Mart will sponsor the prizes.
