Staff Report-
Kosciusko FIT participants from 2012 offered words of encouragement to those who might be considering participating in the upcoming 2013 competition. The registration deadline is Dec. 20 for this year’s program. Visit www.wkchamber.com for full program details and registration. One participant stated that last year at this time she finally hit her limit of feeling tired, achy and sick all the time as she had been continuing to gain weight. The worse she felt, the more she ate. At one of her winter doctor appointments she was told that her cholesterol and triglycerides were elevated. In an effort to stay off of medications, she decided to try eating healthier and losing weight. She joined the Kosciusko FIT program for added accountability and support. She began losing weight and feeling better, but still had some ongoing issues which led to the discovery that she also suffered from food allergies. This caused her to continue to make further lifestyle changes, which yielded further weight loss. In the spring, she had her blood retested and was amazed to find out that all her lab results were now in normal range. Better yet, her aches, pains, illness and fatigue were gone. She has continued her commitment to healthy eating and exercise and has made 5K competitions a part of her way of life. By the end of the competition she had lost 30.18 percent of her original body weight. Another participant, whose life is always in motion with five young children, never thought she had the time to stop and take care of herself. She never really considered her needs until she heard about the Kosciusko FIT competition and realized that she matters. Her competitive nature surfaced and she threw herself into it 100 percent. She worked hard and used the Kosciusko FIT education, support and accountability to help fuel her motivation. By the time the last weight check was completed, she had lost 31.30 percent of her starting body weight.
