A new scale at the Kosciusko County Recycling Depot has been purchased and installed.
This update was provided during a Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management board meeting on Tuesday.
Their previous scale was purchased in 2000 and had been having issues due to old age, according to a technician that was hired to fix the scale.
During the Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management board meeting in December, Tom Ganser, Kosciusko County Solid Waste executive director, requested permission from the board to purchase a new scale.
At the time of the December meeting, Ganser had a quote from Antibus of $6,595 to purchase and install a new digital scale. The board requested that Ganser get additional quotes, specifically one from Brechbuhler, at the suggestion of board member Cary Groninger.
The board voted to give Ganser permission to purchase and install a new scale if the total was less than $6,600.
The quote from Brechbuhler came back at $5,186.51. This is a savings of $1,208.49. The scale has been purchased and installed.
The board also voted to approve the 2026 salary ordinance, which included a small, cost-of-living increase to employee salaries.
