Kosciusko County Relay For Life Planned At Fairgrounds

The 2015 Relay For Life of Kosciusko County in May will have a disco theme this year. Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. It is May 16 and 17, with an opening ceremony at 3 p.m. and a closing ceremony at 9 a.m. The theme is “Relay’s Got Disco Fever.” Activities will include decorating a team disco ball, a disco tent, decorating and adopting a pet rock and prizes for best disco outfit and ‘70s hairdo. There are 18 teams comprised of 108 people, according to Aimee Kintzel, Relay For Life events coordinator. There were 30 teams and more than 300 participants last year. Registration is still being accepted at www.relayforlife.org.kosciuskocountyin Registration the day of the event also will be accepted. Last year $62,000 was raised , and this year’s goals is $63,000. There will be a cancer survivor’s dinner May 16 at 4:30 p.m. For more information or to register for the dinner call Sharon Reed at 574-377-1548. There will be a luminaria ceremony May 16 at 10 p.m. to honor those who have lost their lives to cancer. Kintzel said the ceremony is so powerful and that is why she became a relay volunteer.
