Many activities are planned for this weekend in Kosciusko County to celebrate July 4.
Winona Lake-Warsaw Warsaw and Winona Lake fireworks will be Saturday over Winona Lake at dusk.
The Winona Lake 4th of July Celebration is Saturday in Winona Lake Park.
Schedule of events include a Firecracker 5K with registration at 7 a.m. and the race beginning at 8 a.m.; parade registration and line up is at 11:15 a.m., and the parade begins at noon.
The parade theme is “Wild, Wild West” and parade awards will be at 12:30 p.m. at center stage.
Free blow-up activities will be available from 1 to 5 p.m.
A cutie contest will be for ages 4-6 with registration from 1 to 2 p.m, private interviews from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., and cutie awards at 4 p.m.
A car show with registration is from 1 to 3 p.m., there will be door prizes, and awards will be at 4:15 p.m.
A live disc jockey will play a variety of music from 1 to 5 p.m.
There will be food vendors, craft kits and games.
The MasterWorks Patriotic Pops Concert is from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Winona Lake Hillside Park across from the Winona Lake Post Office.
Akron Fireworks are planned at Pike Memorial Park at dusk Monday.
Chapman Lake Chapman Lake Conservation Association will have fireworks Saturday at dusk on the west side of Big Chapman Lake. The rain date for fireworks is Sunday.
Syracuse Lake Wawasee and Tippecanoe Lake fireworks are Saturday at dusk.
Syracuse Lake fireworks are Monday at dusk.
Lake Wawasee Flotilla-50th Anniversary “Wawapalooza: Celebrating 50 Years of Music” will be the theme for the 50th anniversary. The Flotilla Parade on Lake Wawasee is Sunday at 4 p.m.
Kicking off the weekend will be a dance Friday at Southshore Golf Club pavilion with food and drinks and The John Kirkwood Band performing. The dance will be from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased by calling 574-457-3775.
Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce is encouraging businesses, service organizations, clubs and groups to get involved in the flotilla this year by decorating a boat or pontoon for the flotilla parade Sunday.
Dewart Lake fireworks by Allan Foyle will be Saturday at 10 p.m. north of the island.
North Webster Webster Lake’s fireworks are Saturday at dusk.
North Manchester North Manchester Civic Band, led by Reggie Smith, will perform a concert at 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Manchester College campus. The band will perform patriotic tunes.
Following the 9 p.m. welcome, community residents will give patriotic readings, led by World War II Iwo Jima veteran Bart Corricelli, former commander of the Eel River American Legion Post.
North Manchester Rotary will sell $1 hot dogs, popcorn, pop and water to benefit community projects and reading programs.
The Fourth of July Celebration hosted by Manchester College with fireworks will be at 10 p.m. at Manchester College Monday.
A rain date for North Manchester fireworks and the concert is July 5 with the same time and location.
