BLOOMINGTON — The 108th Boys Track and Field State Tournament took place Friday at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Complex at Indiana University, with Warsaw freshman Stephen Kolbe finishing ninth in the high jump. In his first season competing in high school track, Kolbe’s ninth-place finish earned him a half-point, as he tied with Valparaiso junior Jordan Romanov. Kolbe cleared 6-6, while the winning leap of 6-10 was achieved by Southmont senior Jonathon Christensen. Results for other Warsaw athletes was junior Spencer Rheinhardt’s 22nd-place finish in the 800 (1:59.77), while he also joined senior Scott Smyth, senior Trevor Callahan and sophomore Jacob Poyner on the 11th-place 3200 relay (7:55.36), as well as the 21st-place 1600 relay with freshmen Chad Goon, freshman Ryan Goon and sophomore Wyatt Jones (3:25.68). In other state results, Whitko’s 3200 relay of junior Jude Stieglitz, junior Brody Wilson, senior Brian Menzie and junior Trapper Mize finished 19th in 8:09.96; Manchester junior Kegan McNeeley finished 11th in the 100 (11.24); Wawasee freshman Nathan Cook was 26th in the 110 hurdles (16.51) and Wawasee senior Ben Klaybor failed to clear a height at the high jump. The girls state meet takes place today at Indiana University.
