Editor, Times-Union: On April 3, Kosciusko County Democratic Chair David Kolbe said that if he was the state representative for District 22, he would have voted against SB 101 (RFRA). That is a “what I would have done different” statement. On April 8, I asked Mr. Kolbe that if he “had a flood of calls telling you to support this bill and to vote for it, would you have seriously gone against the will of your constituents?” That is a hypothetical. Granted, it’s not the case now, but if you’re going to put out a scenario with you in a position of leadership, isn’t it prudent for someone to offer a hypothetical scenario? For now, just ignore the other questions I asked you and answer this one: If you were the District 22 representative (and for the record, you would have been my representative had you won), and RFRA was being debated, and of all the communication you received from the district on the matter, you received an overwhelming majority of people telling you to support this bill because they like it, would you have voted for the way your constituents told you to vote? Do you believe that all humans are created equal, or are some humans more equal than others? In other words, what side are you on, statism or liberty? Now as for the other questions that I have asked, I would like answers to, but if you don’t want to answer them here, and you’d rather do it in a public setting, I can be cordial. If you can do the same without acting like a typical Democrat, you can contact me online, and I’ll meet you anywhere you want and we can have a frank, cordial discussion about Equal Protection Clause and a free society.
