TOPEKA — KiLee Knafel kicked her senior campaign off in impressive fashion Friday at Westview. In the season-opening game for each team, Knafel led the Wawasee Lady Warriors to a 64-41 with a 42-point game. After scoring just four points in the first quarter, Knafel netted 15 in the second, nine in the third and 14 in the fourth. In all, Knafel finished the game hitting seven three-pointers, with just one point coming from the free-throw line. Wawasee’s next leading scorer was senior Cassie Martinez, who scored five, while sophomore Elizabeth Jackson, freshman Kylee Rostochak and freshman Katlyn Kennedy each scored four. Up next for the 1-0 Lady Warriors is a Tuesday night game at Lakeland. The Manchester girls basketball team had its four-game winning streak against Bluffton snapped Friday night on the road. Opening their season at Bluffton, the Lady Squires fell 42-37. In the loss, senior Kayla Flack led Manchester with 14 points, while junior Tabby DeWitt scored 10 points and had a team-high 10 boards.
