SYRACUSE — The Wawasee girls basketball program had a third member join its 1,000-point club Saturday in a 47-31 home loss against Plymouth.
Needing 17 points to reach 1,000 career points, junior KiLee Knafel finished with the needed 17, making two field goals and converting 13 of 14 free throws.
Knafel joins a club only inhabited by 2002 Miss Basketball Shanna Zolman, whose 3,085 points is an Indiana record for girls basketball and just 49 behind Damon Bailey’s overall Indiana record of 3,134.
Wawasee 2009 graduate Taylor Goshert is also a member of the club, wrapping her prep career up with 1,407 points.
Despite the individual accomplishment, Wawasee dropped it’s ninth straight, falling to 4-12 overall and 0-5 in the Northern Lakes Conference.
The Lady Warriors travel to Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday.
