KLS Celebrates National Literacy Month

Posted
Kosciusko Literacy Services invited local libraries to celebrate National Literacy Month with "What Book Got You Hooked?"

The theme ties into The Big Read 2009 book selection, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," by Mark Twain.

Library representatives dressed as Sawyer with straw hats and fishing poles, or as Sawyer being a noble pirate complete with a hook for a hand.

The goal of National Literacy Month program is to create greater awareness of literacy issues.

People who do not have adequate literacy skills find everyday tasks difficult. Everyone needs strong reading skills to reach their full potential in the family, workplace and community.

Kosciusko Literacy Services invites people to visit the local library and read, read, read and join The Big Read in 2009.
