Klondaris Among Board Candidates

Posted

Candidates for positions on three area school boards filed their petitions with the Kosciusko County clerk's office and will be on the ballots in November's general election.

The seats that are up for election and the number of candidates vary within districts. Warsaw Community Schools

Three seats - in Districts 3, 4 and 6 - are available on the Warsaw school board, and the incumbents for all three seats are running again.

Candidates for District 3 are: Dan J. Robinson (incumbent), Deer Trail, Warsaw, and Albert G. Smith, Alward Street, Warsaw. District 4 candidates are: Charles E. Sauders (incumbent), South Packerton Road, Warsaw, and Terry Klondaris, Fairlane Drive, Warsaw. Running for District 6 is the incumbent, Craig J. Allebach, Fisher Avenue, Warsaw.

Officials elected in the fall 1996 election will take office Jan. 1, 1997, and leave office Dec. 31, 2000. Wawasee Community Schools

Wawasee's two at-large seats, currently held by John Weiss and Michael Smith, are up for election in November.

Wawasee's school board is made up of five members - one each from three districts and two at-large seats. Because of the three districts, only two members of the school board can be from the same district. Therefore, the two at-large members up for election this year cannot be from the same district.

The candidates for Wawasee Community Schools are: District 1: David L. Carey, North CR 450E, Leesburg; District 2: Scott E. Abbs, East Northshore Drive, Syracuse; and Jeff Wells, East Northshore Drive, Syracuse; District 3: Derk W. Kuhn, North CR 250E, Milford; William O. Troup, East Camp Mack Road, Milford; John C. Weiss (incumbent), North Higbee, Milford; and Dr. Bruce Lamb, Ind. 15N, Milford.

Members of the Wawasee school board hold their terms for four years, and there is no limit to the number of terms a school board member may hold. Triton Community Schools

Triton school district voters will choose a representative for the third district and an at-large member of the school board.

Steve Feldman, 12B Road, Bourbon, the incumbent District 3 representative, is running for re-election in his district.

Steve Sechrist, West CR 600N, Etna Green, the incumbent at-large board member, is running for re-election against two other candidates: Richard Lee Walter, West North Street, Etna Green; and Kevin Boyer, Rose Lane, Bourbon.

District 3 is defined as Bourbon Township outside Bourbon city limits.

Triton school board members take office on Jan. 1 immediately following the election. Their terms last four years, and they may serve an unlimited number of terms.
