He enjoys it so much, he's been in a band and put together his own CD. Under the name "diastolic," he recently released his own CD "of sickness and remedy."
After graduating from Triton High School, Klingerman, 28, lived in New York City a few years, taking courses and doing some volunteer work. In 2002, after moving back to the area, he started a band, Buffalo Union, with some other local guys. The rock band broke up in 2005. But Klingerman, the singer in the band, wanted to keep going. So he began performing acoustically.
Last February, he put an EP out, which included some of the same songs on his first full-length CD, "of sickness and remedy." All the original songs are acoustic, he said.
Originally, he said he picked the name "diastolic" because he thought it would be the name of a new band. When the band didn't form, he kept it as his stage name. The word, he said, means rhythmic expansion of the heart.
"Most of my songs are love songs or matters of the heart," Klingerman said.
Some of the 20 songs on the CD were written almost two years ago. All were self-produced by Klingerman in his apartment with his own recording equipment. He said the response to the album has been pretty good so far.
He plays out as much as he can, and touts his music on Myspace at myspace.com/diastolicmusic Between the first of the year and April, Klingerman said he has 25 shows lined up. So far, he's played at the Firefly and Borders, both in Fort Wayne; Blue Lion Coffeehouse, Pierceton; Italian Cafe Bar, Bremen; and Courthouse Coffee, Warsaw.

"A lot of people seem to like it," he said of his CD. "It's easy to relate to."
