KLA Learns About Myers-Briggs

Posted
The third session of the Kosciusko Leadership Academy was held at the Bowen Center.

Tim Nussbaum and Scott Wiley provided a warm welcome.

Moderator Allyn Decker provided in-depth information on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®  preferences, tendencies and characteristics. The cadets discussed the different types, identified their personal “type” and learned about interacting with other “types”.

“To be a leader … leaders must know themselves,” Decker said.

The next KLA session will be Oct. 9 at the Warsaw Police Department where the cadets will learn about city, county and state government.

KLA was formed in 1982 by Jean Northenor, executive vice president at Lake City Bank, and Matt Dalton, owner of Dalton Foundries, when they envisioned a program that would develop, in Northenor’s words, “young, innovative, enthusiastic leaders with some new ideas.”

The mission of KLA today is to develop informed and innovative leaders who will serve the community by skillfully leading it into the future. This is accomplished by educating the cadets; enriching the cadets through networking with peers and community leaders; inspiring individuals to see the possibilities of the community; and challenging the cadets to take action, get involved and make a difference.
