Kosciusko Leadership Academy recently met in the old courtroom at the courthouse to learn about law enforcement and the judicial system in the county.
Judge Mike Reed kicked off the morning with a discussion on the history of the judicial system in the county and how the system works. He discussed recent changes in the local system and spoke briefly on the hope of bringing a fourth superior court to the county.
The second speaker of the morning was Warsaw Police Chief Scott Whitaker. He taught the cadets the makeup of the local city police department and new features within it.
The third speaker of the morning was Kosciusko County Sheriff Rocky Goshert. He explained the sheriff’s department role in the county, how the different agencies work together and all the different duties and responsibilities of his department.
The cadets were provided a tour of the county justice building following the speakers. KLA’s next session will meet Tuesday at the Syracuse Community Center.
