LEESBURG - The annual Kosciusko Leadership Academy banquet was held Thursday night at Tippecanoe Country Club, Leesburg.
There were 24 KLA graduates who graduated from the academy.
Approximately 80 KLA alumni, sponsors and executive committee members also attended the banquet.KLA is an organization that fosters leadership skills in employees who have been identified by their employers as future leaders. The mission of the organization is to develop informed and innovative leaders who will serve the community.
Since 1982, an average of 25 students has graduated each year from KLA, now totaling more than 600 alumni.
Ron Manahan, Grace College president, spoke during the banquet about leadership.
"Leaders need to learn to interact with the realities of life and adapt and change to situations," Manahan said.
He said good leaders ask for advice and learn from past experiences.
KLA graduates were recognized for the White Papers they wrote. Students form teams and research relevant community issues and needs, and write their research in the form of a paper.
The White Papers included: "Kosciusko Outreach Services" by Denise Eldridge, Karen Portz and Megan Martin; "Marketing KLA: Drawing on the Past, Driving Toward the Future" by Cameron Plew, Paul Lofquist, Erin Lawrence, Brenda Peterson and Nicole Rapagnani; "WCS Volunteer Network" by Lisa Harman, John Armacost, Niccole Pierre and William Kovach.
Other White Papers were "Building College Dreams Before They're Teens" by Stacey Lohse, Erin Rowland and Karen Bober; "KLA: A Review in Direction" by Jay Tate and Joel Harstine; "Building the Foundation to Help Rebuild Lives: Victim Service Center" by Lorna A. Ladd and Kathryn M. Jones; and "Ryan's Place" by Kelly Krugman, Steffanie Bellamy and Michael Mulligan.
