Longtime Kosciusko Leadership Academy supporter Jean Northenor holds a check for $25,000 donated to KLA in her honor by Matt Dalton, pictured at left. The donation took place at the annual KLA banquet held at Tippecanoe Country Club Thursday evening. Dalton, of Dalton Foundries, asked that the money be used as an incentive for KLA students. Each year for the next five years, $5,000 will be awarded to the students who produce the best KLA White Paper. The only criteria are that the paper must be done by not more than two people and must be the most beneficial to the community. Judging the papers will be Northenor, KLA moderator Steve Grill, former Lake City Bank president Doug Grant and Charlie Bertsch, of Bertsch Vending. This year's KLA class was introduced at the banquet and officers for next year were named. Officers are: Lisa Steward, president; Linda Owens, vice president; Becky Moreno, secretary/treasurer; Mary Gerard, public information; Jeff Thornburgh, selection chairman; Stephanie Noffsinger, curriculum chairman; Cathy Teghtmeyer, alumni relations; Karen Beck, special events; Jean Northenor, adviser; and Steve Grill, moderator.
