Kip Lyn Hammer, 65, of Glendale, Ariz., and formerly of Mentone, passed away at 4 p.m. (EST) Aug. 1, 2012, while visiting his son in Arlington, Ore. He was born Nov. 16, 1946, in Mentone, to Zanna L. and Mary Ellen Myers Hammer. He graduated from Mentone High School in 1965. He entered the U.S. Navy on June 10, 1968, in Indianapolis. He served during the Vietnam War as a field service medical tech. HM2 Kip Lyn Hammer was honorably discharged June 9, 1972, from Camp Pendleton, Calif. Surviving are a daughter, Molly M. (and spouse Jonathan W.) Barnes, Fishers; a son, Nathan L. (and spouse Leslee A.) Hammer, Arlington; a sister, Pam A. (and spouse Cliff) Fiscus, Zionsville; a brother, Terry (and spouse Noel) Hammer, Loxahatchee, Fla.; and two grandsons, James P. Barnes and Jonathan R. Barnes, both of Fishers. He was preceded in death by his father, Zanna Hammer, who died Feb. 12, 2002, and his mother, Mary Ellen Hammer, who died Feb. 21, 2006. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Chaplain Hunter Floyd officiating and with military honors by members of Warsaw American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
