Kingsmen Slip by Tigers at TAC, 67-65

The 15th-ranked Warsaw boys track and field team hosted the Penn Kingsmen Thursday night, falling by a slim 67-65 score.

The Tigers did win seven events on the night, as the 3200 relay (Ismael Calderon, Ellis Coon, Jacob Poyner, Spencer Rheinhardt) and the 1600 relay (Ryan Goon, Chad Goon, Poyner, Rheinhardt) posted two of them.

Poyner (1600), Rheinhardt (800) and Coon (3200) also won individual events, as did Wyatt Jones (400) and Stephen Kolbe (high jump).

The 2-1 Tigers open their Northern Lakes Conference season April 12 at home against Elkhart Memorial and Goshen.

Thursday in Syracuse
The Wawasee softball team fell 4-3 to Elkhart Central Thursday in Syracuse. Tied at 3-3 going into the seventh, Elkhart Central scored a run in the top of the inning, and Wawasee was unable to answer. Gabi Routson struck out eight for the Lady Warriors, but was hit with the loss. Offensively, Madi Anderson went 2 for 4 in the loss, hitting two doubles and recording two RBIs. The 1-3 Lady Warriors host East Noble Monday.

Thursday in Goshen
Recording 25 hits, the Tippecanoe Valley softball team got a 17-5 win at Bethany Christian Thursday night. Of those 25 hits, Mariah Benzing and Danielle Adams each had four in the win, with Benzing hitting a double and a triple in the process. Whitney Sleeth was the winning pitcher, improving the Lady Vikings to 2-1 on the year. Valley hosts Triton April 9.
