WABASH — Giving up four runs in the first inning, the Manchester softball team couldn’t recover in the semifinals of Class 2A Sectional 37, Tuesday in Wabash.
Trailing Lewis Cass 4-0 after one inning, Manchester got two runs back in the bottom of the second, but couldn’t fully recover, losing 6-3.
Manchester’s season ends at 14-10, while Cass moves on to face Oak Hill in today’s 7 p.m. championship game at Honeywell Park in Wabash.
Manchester outhit Cass 8-7 in the loss, as Lady Squires freshman pitcher Brooklyn Howard had nine strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Offensively, Sydney Jordan had three hits, but the early deficit was too much to come back from.
