Kindle Users Can Now Download Library eBooks

Posted
Kindle lovers - start downloading at your library.

A recent policy change from Amazon has opened up Kindle users to access current titles from Warsaw Community Public Library.

Amazon tapped OverDrive — which provides eBooks to public libraries and schools — to help it come up with a solution.

Warsaw Library already had access to OverDrive using Indiana Digital Consortium — a shared drive that allows members of 24 public libraries to access and download eBooks.

Now, Kindle users can access OverDrive through the library’s website, www.warsawlibrary.org to download current titles.

WCPL also has access to free public domain eBooks that never expire or count against a patron’s loan limit.

In addition, Warsaw Library offers eBooks and eAudiobooks for use on PC or Mac computers and popular mobile devices such as smartphones, MP3 players and eBook readers like the Barnes & Noble Nook and Sony Reader.

The library has witnessed an increase in its circulation of eBooks since the service began, and those numbers are expected to grow even more now that Kindle users can check out eBooks, too.

The downloadable service is available from home at any time or day and requires a Warsaw Community Public Library card. For more details and information, call the reference desk at 574-267-6011.
