Kindig Surpasses 1,000-Point Mark To Lead Roundup

Posted
ROCHESTER — Despite the score being 62-28 in favor of the Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team against Rochester, Friday night’s game was of note.
Played in Rochester, Valley senior Nick Kindig became the fifth Viking to hit the 1,000-point mark with his eight points in the Three Rivers Conference win.
Kindig joins 2000-graduate Brandon Eaton (1,072 pts), 1992-graduate Scott Johnson (1,352), 1975-graduate Ron Dittman (1,461) and the school’s all-time leading scorer, 2003-graduate Trey Eaton (1,682), in the exclusive club.
Along with seeing Kindig break that barrier, the win also keeps Valley’s unblemished TRC record in tact at 3-0.
Rochester had been undefeated, but falls to 2-1, while Southwood is the conference’s other unbeaten after downing Whitko 49-43 Friday night.
In their latest victory, the Vikings went 17 of 18 at the free-throw line, with junior Tanner Andrews making all six of his attempts en route to a game-high 18 points.
Also for Valley, senior Logan Britton had 15 points and sophomore Alex Thacker netted 10.
The 10-2 Vikings return to the court Friday at home against Southwood for sole possession of first place in the conference.
