Editor, Times-Union: If our future is our children-what has happened to them? Less than 30 percent of our young people ages 17 to 24 are qualified for military service according to the Pentagon. The remaining 70 percent may not meet the physical requirements such as being too fat, having committed crimes like drugs or dropping out of high school. There are many reasons for this decline. Everyone knows at least one. Is it too late to alter our future? Will we let the government take a leadership roll in raising our children because we are no longer able to take care of them ourselves. The problem with our future-it is now. Paul Fribley Warsaw
