Kevin James Logan, 52, of Burlington, Mich., and formerly of Warsaw, died of a massive heart attack Sept. 24, 2008, in his wife's parent's residence. He was ill with diabetes for a few years.
He was born Aug. 7, 1956, in Peru, Ind., to James Hensley and Evelyn Lois Good Logan, who survive in Indianapolis. On Sept. 13, 1974, in Morgantown, he married Jenny Lou Totten, who survives. On Dec. 13, 2002, in Las Vegas, Nev., he married Terra Marie Delpriore, who survives.
Known as "Smiley" during his senior year of high school, he received the honor of attending Hoosier Boys State Junior Government, where he held more offices than any other during that session. After graduating from Indian Creek High School, Trafalgar, in 1974, he took classes to become an EMT and received his license in Indianapolis. In 1977, he moved to Warsaw. He was an EMT for McHatton-Sadler, and when Warsaw offered an EMT course, he was the very first instructor. He later became an officer for the Edinburgh police force for several years. In later years he became involved in construction. He was responsible for remodeling different Kmart and Target stores around the country, and eventually became superintendent for a company that brought hospitals around the country up to mandatory code and into court-ordered compliance. He moved back to the Warsaw area for a short time before finally settling in Burlington, Mich. He was a born-again Christian.
Also surviving are three children, Matthew James, Joshua Alexander and Aaron Jacob; a stepdaughter, Tabitha; two brothers, Kerry (and spouse Coni) Logan, Syracuse, Utah, and Kit (and spouse Jennifer) Logan, Edinburgh; and two sisters, Joy (and spouse Doug) Burkhart, Seymour, and Kathy (and spouse Randy) Creamer, Silver Lake. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 12 at the fire station in Burlington, Mich. There was cremation.
