GOSHEN – Kenneth Shriner, 87, died early morning Feb. 23, 2013, in Bremen. He was born May 1, 1925, in Goshen, to Rufus and Myrtle Hall Shriner. On Aug. 4, 1950, in Goshen, he married Betty Davis, who survives. He served in the U.S. Navy for two and a half years. He served in both the European and Pacific Theatres, including Omaha Beach on D-Day, and witnessing the flag being raised on Iwo Jima. After returning home, he worked at the former Penn Controls for 45 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oswego. Also surviving is a sister, Mildred Heeter, Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Shriner; and a sister, Margaret Shriner. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Violett Cemetery, Goshen, officiated by the Rev. Kirk Barger of Calvary Baptist Church.
